My name is Cyndi Smith. I graduated in 1969.
I married for the first time on Sept 12, 1969 to Earl Leroy Johnson, a
sailor stationed here. That marriage lasted 8 yrs. I have one
son from that marriage. John is now 36, married and has a beautiful
daughter, Rebecca Lynn. He lives in Chicago. Although
I never married David Lane Harrison, I have a son by him, David
Jr. who is now 26 and lives here in Jacksonville. David was assistant
manager at Domino's Pizza on Normandy Blvd when a co-worker came in and
shot him three times. He lost his left kidney and spleen. He
has a metal plate in his left arm. The last shot was to the face.
This happened on March 12, 2004 and he is still undergoing facial reconstruction
as a result. He is my miracle. He has a fantastic attitude and is
an inspiration to all his friends. They were all there for him and
still are. I recently moved into my brother's trailer. Due
to injuries relating to a car accident in 1979 and a severe bout of arthritis,
I am applying for SSD. I still get around but with difficulty.
All in all, life has it ups and downs but it has all been worth it.
I write poetry and have even had 3 published. I am on myspace as
cyndi1951 if you want to check it out. I remember so many things
from Paxon, and consider myself lucky to have gone there. Blessings
to all.
Cyndi
